A Cool Summer Night

A Cool Summer Night

Share the Love!

It was a cool, summer night. All along, you knew this would happen. All along you knew what would become.

The woman was in pain, she screamed and cried. The doctors told her she was alright.

She continued to scream, she continued to push. Until she heard the cry of another.

Sometimes, things just line up in such a way that you just know. You just know things were meant for you. You know they weren’t meant to be.

And then there was calm, there was a stillness. For a moment, complete peace. Complete joy.

A love so deep, unknown to the woman. A love she seeked and could never find. She searched in her husband, her job and now her children. It was there, the love was there, yet how well could she receive it? Would she allow it? Would she accept it?

Or would she continue to feel like it was never enough? Would she keep searching for more? Another child? More money? A new husband? Would it ever be enough?

Or would she finally allow herself to feel the joy of a moment. The peace of stillness. The love that surrounded her since before she was born.

Would she finally let it be enough? Would she finally allow herself to feel it? Would she finally allow herself to live it?

Or would she allow this child to just be another…. another mouth to feed, another diaper to change, another outfit to buy.

The child was a gift and she knew it. She just didn’t know how to express it.

But she could learn. She knew she was teachable. And she had heard of God, who apparently loved her despite all the horrible things she had done. Maybe it was time to meet Him? Maybe it’s been Him all along?

It was a cool, summer night. All along, you knew this would happen. All along you knew what would become.
