Everyone has to start somewhere. No matter what your goal is, here are 5 small steps you can take now that will help you improve your life in a big way.

 

1. Be on time
Being late to work or meetings can hurt your career big time. Rushing out the door only to remember that you forgot your lunch on the counter is not a good way to start the day. Just think how nice it would be if you arrived to every event right on time, or even a few minutes early? Being on time not only brings calm but it allows you a few extra minutes to prepare, touch up or just relax.

 

2. Keep your home and car clean
It’s amazing how much better you feel when your home and car are clean. A cluttered home causes a cluttered mind, so keeping your home and car clean will help keep your mind clear. You’ll be able to focus on things that matter instead of being distracted by the pile of bills or not being able to find your car keys.

 

3. Listen to your body
Your body knows what it needs and you should listen to it. When your body is hungry, it let’s you know that you should eat. When you’re tired your body also let’s you know it’s time for sleep. Sometimes you’re lacking a key nutrient and your body is feeling off as a way to tell you. Many people don’t really listen to their bodies or they confuse the signals their body sends them. Many people think they’re hungry when really they are just tired or they feel sick when really they just need to eat a more balanced diet. Learn to get in touch with your body and listen to what it needs so you can feel the best you can.

 

4. Stay in touch with family and friends
As we get older it’s easy to lose touch with many friends from our past or family members we don’t see often. However, it’s so important to stay in contact with friends and family. Your relatives can be full of wisdom and advice, or you might have more in common than you realize. Your friends are your friends for a reason. Sure, people do drift apart, but hold on to that core group of friends and family. It’s a treasure to have but one that must be maintained.

 

5. Spend time on yourself
Make sure to take some time everyday to spend time on yourself. This time isn’t to be confused with relax time, it’s something you can do that will improve your life. Whether it’s spending an hour at the gym, practicing a new language, reading a book, working on your hobby, or giving yourself a facial, make sure to spend some time improving yourself everyday. It doesn’t have to be long, you can take ten minutes or two hours, but just set aside some time to work on you. You are your best investment so add to yourself everyday.
