1. Look for a new job
Seems obvious right? Oddly enough many people who say they hate their job don’t do this. Yes, looking for a new job is time consuming; you have to send out resumes, fill in applications, and go to interviews, but if you really hate your job then it will all be worth it when you find a job you like 10 times better.
2. Improve on your skills
No matter what job you have there is some skill you can improve on or learn. Make the most of your time while you are there by learning whatever skills you can. Whether it’s people skills, multitasking, or dealing with stress, there is some skill you can improve on with the current job you have.
3. Find something you like about the job
There’s good in everything, including your job. Look for things you like and appreciate about your job. Maybe you have a good schedule, maybe you like your coworkers, or maybe you just like the pay. There’s something good about every job, figure out what you like about yours and focus on it.

4. Remember or revise your master plan
Is this job just a stepping stone to the job you really want? If so remember what the end goal is. Remind yourself that this job is only temporary until you get to where you want to be. You might get there sooner than you think.
On the other hand, is this the job you always wanted but it didn’t turn out to be what you thought? Well, maybe it’s time to revise your plan? Be happy that you accomplished a goal but be open to other possibilities. Just because you got your degree in this field doesn’t mean you have to be miserable.
5. Talk to your boss
Sometimes there’s an easy fix to make you enjoy your job more. Maybe your just overwhelmed and need a coworker to share the workload? Maybe you need a new position within the company? A good boss can be a great resource to help you figure out if a simple change is all you need. If your boss can’t help you or the options they give you don’t work for you, it might be time to seek out a new career.
6. Make a game out of it
Now don’t take this too literally, especially depending on your job, but make work fun. Make it a game. If you are in sales, compete against yourself to be better each month. If your job is to stock merchandise see how fast you can do it. People play games on their phones and computers all day that are basically what others do at work. Someone out there thinks your job is fun and made a game out of it, you can do the same in your own mind and it will make the day a little more fun.
7. Try to do your job well
It’s easy to stop caring and do a crappy job because you don’t like our job, but that just makes it even worse. People start to notice when you slack off and depending on where you work that could get back to your boss and could get you in trouble. As long as they are still paying you to do a job, you need to do it the best you can. Everyone slacks off sometimes, but do it too much you might not have the job you hate much longer, just not by choice.
