We all have bad days, but we also can turn them into a good day. Sometimes you can’t fix everything but you can add a little bit of joy to a bad day.
Here are 7 easy ways to turn a bad day into a good one.
1. Get out of the house
When your having a bad day it’s easy to stay inside or in bed all day. It feels good to get all curled up, watching TV and eating junk food. It’s okay to do this sometimes, but if you do this too much you actually become more depressed.
If you’re upset and you find yourself drawn to the TV and your bed, force yourself to get out. Call a friend, take your dog for a walk, go to the store, or read at a park. Getting some fresh air and sunshine can naturally increase your mood. Plus you might have a really good time instead of just watching someone on the TV do the same thing. The possibilities are endless and you’ll feel better for getting out of the house.
2. Do something special just for you.
We all need a little pick me up sometimes and remember that you deserve something special. Whether it’s an iced coffee, getting your nails done, or just taking a bubble bath, make some time to do something special for yourself today and everyday. Just a few minutes of a simple joy can bring peace to your life and make the day a little bit better.

3. Laugh
Laughing truly is the best medicine! It’s one of the highest frequencies we can be on and it’s pretty easy to get there. Watching a funny you tube video or a movie usually does it for me. You can also look through some good memories of old times, call up an entertaining friend, or even just put on the radio, dance your heart out and laugh at yourself. Whatever works for you, as long as it’s a genuine laugh it will do the trick.
4. Create Something
I recently took up a new hobby of painting. I can’t even draw a straight line but it’s a lot of fun and my pieces actually come out good enough to hang on my wall! I impressed myself and you might impress yourself too if you haven’t tried it yet. Not your style? Build a bookshelf or a desk. Make a photo collage. Work in your garden. Even organizing your pantry in a new way can be creative for some. The point is to make or do something that wasn’t there before so you can look at it and know that you made that and be proud of yourself.

5. Connect with someone
We humans are creatures who naturally crave the comfort of others. Sometimes all we need to make us feel better is a conversation with a loved one. Not just any conversation though, one where you make a connection with each other. Lots of us have isolated ourselves unintentionally; even if you are married you might not be connecting with your spouse. Talk about your feelings, your goals and your fears and make sure to ask them to share theirs too. Whether it’s an old friend, a sibling, or your neighbor, having a real conversation with someone can make a bad day a little bit better.
6. Exercise
Yep, you knew that was coming. It’s true though, on the days where I exercise I do feel happier. I also feel powerful, confident and even desirable (gym clothes are meant to be sexy, right?). It doesn’t take much time either, sure you can go to the gym for an hour or two and get in a great workout. You can also run, take a long walk, or do some yoga at home. With all the great online videos you don’t even have to leave the house. Either way, doing a workout you enjoy will make a bad day not seem so bad.

7. Journal
Sometimes you just need to get out what’s wrong and what better way to do so than to journal? You can say anything you want and no one ever has to read it. You can write about your fears, your problems, your job, whatever it is that is causing you stress. It can also help to write about a self discovery question that speaks to you such as, “If I could change anything it would be…”. Questions like that can give you some insights to what is really bothering you and that self discovery can be a weight off your shoulders and make things seem a little bit better.
