We are surrounded by people and devices that connect us to them, yet we feel more disconnected from others than ever before.
Our mornings are filled with checking emails, social media and news feeds. We go to work and use our phones to escape from our jobs. At dinner with our family, we all have our phones out, looking at Facebook updates instead of actually socializing with one another. We text someone who is in the other room instead of just walking down the hall to ask a question. At night, we play games and try to beat our friends high score before bed, while books on the shelf gather dust and your spouse unknowingly gathers resentment.
There are billions of people in the world, yet so many people say they feel lonely or like no one really understands them. People feel they have no one to talk to or even hang out with.
The truth is, we are all surrounded by people who feel the same way.
Technology is a blessing, but we must use it wisely. Use it to invite a friend over and then put it away while you play a board game. Take out your phone when you’re hiking to take pictures. Get up and walk down the hall to show your brother a cool video instead of just sending it to him.
Use it to feel more connected in a disconnected world.
Do you feel connected or disconnected in today’s world?
